Understanding Multi-Zone Fees

Many trips to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway or Penobscot River Corridor require driving through North Maine Woods checkpoints. This means you pay fees in both zones.

One-Way (Paddle Out)

Drive in through NMW, paddle the waterway, and exit at the far end. You only pay NMW day-use for 1 day (the day you enter). This is the most common and cost-effective approach for Allagash canoe trips.

Two-Way (Out & Back)

Drive in and back out through NMW. You pay NMW day-use for 2 days (entry + exit). This is significantly more expensive than paddling out one end.
